EFM goes to EGU24

On 14 to 19 April 2024, the European Geoscience Union General Assembly took place in Vienna, and our group was well represented! The team shared their newest findings on environmental fluid mechanics.

Roeland presented some great work on bimodality in river bed states, and Sjoukje took over for Ton , talking about the altered sediment mobility in sand-silt mixtures. Reinier dove into the details of land reclamation controls on estuarine morphological evolution, while Hermjan dove into the details of accurate modeling based on reduced Saint-Venant equations. Last but not least, Haftu talked about the sediment redistribution dynamics of a data-scarce catchment.

Silke, Roeland and Sjoukje presenting their work.

Joris presented a beautiful poster on historical tidal records, while Sjoukje showed how flocs can be incorporated into migrating river dunes. Silke presented her work on linking headland bypassing to the evolution of a spit and beach ridge system.

Reinier, Hermjan and Haftu presenting their work.
